2015 Haiti Pastors Conference
From August 10th -21st International Bible Conference traveled to Haiti to lead a pastors conference and a gospel crusade. As you know Haiti has been devastated in recent years by earthquakes, food and water shortages, disease, and political corruption. Additionally a greater problem exists in the spiritual condition of the people. It has been said that Haitian leaders of the past dedicated Haiti to Satan through voodoo ceremonies.
In spite of this we were excited when the opportunity arose for International Bible Conference to go to Haiti. As we were preparing to go the words of Jesus to Paul were burning in our hearts, “I am sending you, to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me (Acts 26:17-18).”
The pastors conference was focused on the book of Hebrews and it went extremely well with more than 110 pastors in attendance each day. When the teaching portion of the conference was complete we had a time for questions and answers. This was the time that was most insightful to me regarding the scriptural maturity of the Haitian pastors.
During the Q & A session pastors asked the following questions: How can we sin if we have the Holy Spirit? Does the Holy Spirit leave you if you sin? Can you please show us scriptures that show how the Holy Spirit would come upon a person in the Old Covenant but would live inside a person under the New Covenant? How can you blaspheme the Holy Spirit?
The crusade was an absolute highlight of this trip. The crowd grew in size each evening and by the final night the estimates were between 700 to 800 people present. Pastor Jeff Anderson gave a clear gospel message each evening and after each message many came forward making confessions of faith in Jesus Christ. It was great to see immediate fruit as many from the crusade were at church for the Sunday morning service.
A summary of the 11 days while ministering in Haiti include:
- One pastor’s conference held at Bethesda Church located in Madeline, Haiti showing the example of verse by verse expository preaching from Hebrews.
- Nearly 150 pastors encouraged, equipped and strengthened.
- Held a gospel crusade with nearly 800 people in attendance and many proclaiming faith in Jesus Christ.
- Visited and prayed with several churches and pastors from Cap-Haïtien, Haiti.
